Medium Length Women's Hairstyles

An incredibly large number of medium hairstyles are available to choose from. With styles that range from conservative, to the ultra sexy it is the perfect choice for most people. Regardless of whether you are looking for something that is versatile or just a haircut that will look good on any occasion this is frequently a fabulous choice. It is important to realize that as you are working to select the perfect style you need to consider the amount of time that it will take to maintain the haircut. Many of the medium haircuts that you can select will take an extreme amount of time to maintain and style, which can create problems in busy schedules.

While most medium haircuts are typically associated with women, there are also numerous medium hairstyles that can also be appropriate for men as well. Looking for a style suitable for a man will typically involve hair a bit shorter than for a woman’s medium haircut though, but it is possible to still yet find a fabulous style that you will love. Taking the time to select the perfect medium haircut is certainly worth the effort, with a wide array of styles, it is possible to be as unique or as conservative as you like.

Afro Hair

Designed as an extremely thick hairstyle it features very tightly curled hair. Typically, this will be designed into a rounded shape; however, it is possible to have a square shape instead. This style originates from Africa and is most often linked to African American people, or someone of their descent. It is possible to have the afro extremely short, or you can have an extremely long afro style.

Asymmetric Cut

This style could be either extremely long, or it can be extremely short. Typically speaking the haircuts are short to medium in length. The style of the cut is generally shorter on one side, and a bit longer on the other side to create an asymmetric hairstyle. There are several celebrities who have adopted an asymmetric cut including Rosie O’Donnell and even Cyndi Lauper.

Bouffant Hair

Coming from the 17th century of Western Europe the bouffant is a style that is typically characterized by the hair piled on top of the head. From the top of the head the hair comes down the sides of the head. Much less popular in recent years many older adults still enjoy a well designed bouffant haircut.

Dyed Hair

Dying the hair has often been extremely popular for older adults in order to ensure that there is no traces of gray hair. While this has typically been associated with older adults, many younger adults also look towards dyed hairstyles to change up their appearance. Some of the most dramatic changes involve changing from dark brown or black hair to blond, or even blond to dark brown or black. With a wide range of colors available, it is possible to significantly change appearance by just a simple dye job.

French Braid

This hairstyle begins with several sections of hair at the very crown of the head and as the braid extends down the head, additional hair is added in small sections. The braid continues down the head even past the hairline to convert into a standard braid that continues for the rest of the hair. A frequent alternative to the traditional French braid is the Dutch braid, which is quite similar, but rather than crossing hair over the other hair sections, it crosses the hair under the hair.

Fringe

The UK version of bangs, this is a style that can be combined with many other hairstyles to create a beautiful framing effect for the face. Women as well as men are both able to find a large number of hairstyles that include fringe that can be either unique or conservative.

Natural Afro

This is the hair that is typically found on people of African descent, which has not been altered in any way by chemicals. This means hair that is not treated with a perm, straightener, relaxer or any coloring techniques. The hair is typically extremely difficult to style, but extremely soft to the feel.

Permed Hair

Officially called a permanent wave, a perm is designed to provide curls and waves to hair. The exact definition of the curl depends heavily upon the exact perm treatment used on the hair. Curls can range from extremely light, to quite tight. After the hair has been permed a while it will start to grow out, and can require touch ups occasionally to smooth the appearance. A perm can be successfully combined with a large number of hairstyles to create a unique appearance.

Pigtails

This is a hairstyle that typically starts with a single braid and extends out the back of the head. The style does have some variations that can include having multiple pigtails all extending from the head. The reasoning behind the name is the braids of a pigtail often resemble the tail of a pig when they are completed.

Razor Cut Hair

This haircutting style involves the use of an extremely sharp razor that is shaped like a knife to actually cut the hair. It is frequently used to create extreme texture in the hair, and piecy appearances. Typically, razor cut is reserved for extremely short hairstyles; however, it can be combined with longer styles to still provide a stunning result. The razor used is different from a standard razor so that it does not damage hair and provides the sharp, crisp results desired.

Sisterlocks

This is a carefully planned technique for controlling hair that is designed to allow you to quickly and easily change the style of hair, without treating the hair with any harsh chemicals. Designed for women of African descent this is intended to be the perfect solution for having all of the stylish hairstyles without the need to continuously treat the hair with chemicals.
